APPLETON, Wis. (Nov. 20, 2025) — Valley Transit, the public transportation service in the Fox Cities, in an effort to address a shortage of bus drivers, is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for applicants who already possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a passenger (“P”) endorsement and a clean driving record.

“Our drivers play a critical role in keeping our community connected to things like employment, education and health care,” said Ron McDonald, Valley Transit general manager. “We are in need of new drivers who already have the qualifications to quickly get on the road and get our passengers to where they need to go.”

Full-time positions come with a $5,000 sign-on bonus, while part-time roles offer $2,500 as a sign-on incentive. Bonuses will be awarded upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period. Employees are required to remain with Valley Transit for at least two years afterward to retain the full bonus amount.

Valley Transit drivers work in an inclusive and dynamic environment, supported by access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, plus comprehensive benefits. Applicants for bus driver positions are not required to have a CDL; Valley Transit offers paid CDL training. However, applicants eligible for the current sign-on bonus must already hold a CDL with a “P” endorsement at the time of hiring.

Several full and part-time bus driver positions need to be filled. For more information, visit myvalleytransist.com/join-our-team.
