How it Works

Reduced fare certification offers discounted bus fare when utilizing the WisGo fare collection system. After your application is processed, you will be be able to choose one of the fare options below.

1. Umo Mobility App for a smart phone (email address and app download are required);

or

2. WisGo Card – reloadable “REDUCED FARE” card that displays your name and card expiration date.

With your new card or app, you will access all the benefits of the WisGo system. The main benefit is Fare Capping.

Scan or Tap every time you board: When you board a Valley Transit bus, the WisGo validator will be to your right near the farebox. Scan your app or tap your card at the validator. Your phone screen needs to face the validator window for a few seconds. You will hear a happy chime and green light if your app is accepted and a buzz and a red light if your app is not accepted.

Good for 90 minutes: After you scan or tap for your first bus, a free 90-minute transfer will begin. When you scan or tap to board your next bus within the 90 minutes, your ride is free. Remember to scan or tap every time you board — the more you scan or tap, the more you’ll save!

Fare Capping:If you tap or scan again after 90 minutes, you’ll be charged for a second fare and you’ll automatically earn a daily fare cap for that day — which means you can ride as much as you want for the rest of the day until end of service. Just scan or tap every time you board and no further charges will be made to your account for the day. In addition to the daily cap, Valley Transit also offers a monthly cap. Once you’ve reached the monthly cap within a calendar month, the remaining days in that month are free.
