APPLETON, Wis. (May 28, 2025) — Valley Transit, the public transportation service in the Fox Cities, is transitioning to a new payment system in the fall. WisGo, powered by UMO, allows riders to pay their fares using either a mobile app or a reloadable card.
The installation of validators for the WisGo system has started and will continue through the spring. Valley Transit’s team will then spend the summer helping riders prepare for the system’s launch, including learning how to download the app, obtaining a WisGo card and transferring current fares.
Once launched, riders can simply scan their mobile app or tap their WisGO card when boarding, avoiding the need to pay with cash or exact change. However, riders will still be able to pay with cash if desired.
“We’re very optimistic about WisGo,” said Ron McDonald, general manager of Valley Transit. “The new payment system will make for a more streamlined fare process, making it faster and easier for riders to board. We’re committed to ensuring a smooth transition by providing resources and support, so our community can fully benefit from the implementation of WisGo.”
Valley Transit’s social media and website will be updated regularly with information about the implementation of WisGo. Additional details will also be shared in a future news release ahead of the anticipated fall launch.
